I've noticed a little orange dot at the top of my iPhone, along with a privacy notification saying that 'unknown' has been accessing my microphone for the past few days. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Yeah, I’d definitely be worried about that! Trust your instincts and look into it further.
Definitely check your permissions! You might have an app you don’t recognize using it. Also, ensure your browser isn’t trying to access the mic through an open tab. Sometimes, it’s just a pesky browser thing from a pop-up or an ad.
Best bet is to block permissions one at a time to pinpoint the issue. And if you can’t figure it out, doing a factory reset might be your safest option.
If your microphone is being accessed constantly, it’s definitely something to look into. It’s worth checking what apps have permission to use your mic. You might want to put your phone in airplane mode for a bit while you investigate.
You should go to Settings -> Privacy and Security -> Microphone and see which apps are using it. If you find 'unknown' there, start disabling app permissions until you see that stop. If it's still happening with everything off, contacting Apple Support would be a smart move.
Good idea! Just make sure to check if this is a feature like Siri or another app that you may have forgotten about.
