I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade to the RTX 5080 now or hold out for the rumored 5080 Super or even the 6000 series, which might come out late in 2026. Right now, I have a Ryzen 5 3600 and an MSI GTX 1660, but I plan to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 9700x and the RTX 5080 for 1440p gaming at high settings. Also, I'm looking for recommendations on good 1440p monitors. Any advice would be appreciated!

Just my two cents: I’d only go for the 5080 if you can get the Founders Edition at MSRP. Otherwise, you might want to save that cash and consider the 5070 Ti instead.
If you can snag the 5080 at MSRP, I’d recommend buying it now. The prices won’t likely get better for at least the next 18 months, so this might be your best shot in a while.
Given the current market for GPUs, I'd definitely suggest upgrading now. We have no idea how things will look in two years, and prices could either go up or drop back down. Better to be safe and upgrade sooner!
It really depends on your needs—if you need the PC now, go for it. If you can wait another couple of years, maybe hold off and see what new cards come out.
I wouldn't wait based on what’s going on with memory and GPU availability. The 5080 might not be perfect, but the risk of waiting indefinitely for something better isn’t worth it.
