Should I Buy More RAM Now or Wait It Out?

I'm building a new PC and I've got some solid components lined up: an Asus Radeon RX 9070 XT, Asus TUF X870 Plus, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and a set of Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 32GB at 6000MHz CL32 that I just got for about $350 CAD. With recent news about OpenAI's financial struggles and Asus's rumored RAM production plans, I'm wondering if I should wait for better prices to grab a 64GB RAM setup, or if I should just bite the bullet and spend over $1000 CAD now. I understand that 32GB is sufficient for most games for the next few years, but what if I end up needing more?

Just a thought: Why do you need 64GB? If 32GB is doing fine for you, maybe you don't need to upgrade right now. Just something to think about!

That’s pretty much where I’m at. Trying to convince myself I really don’t need it!

From what I've seen, if you're just gaming, 32GB should be enough for years. You won't push over that unless multitasking heavily. Just enjoy your gaming for now!

That’s reassuring to hear! Glad it's not just me thinking that.

Seriously, if you're gaming, don't worry about it. Most games don’t even utilize close to 32GB. Just get your PC built and maybe upgrade later if you really feel it's necessary!

How long can you hold off? It seems like prices are stabilizing a bit, so if you can be patient, I say wait it out!

I can wait a bit. I'm doing my build slowly as I save up!

Honestly, I feel like these prices are part of a bigger scheme. RAM prices shot up like crazy, and I can’t believe how SSD prices have spiked too. One day it’s cheap, next day it’s outrageous!

Yeah, it seems more like panic buying than an actual shortage. You're not alone in thinking about whether to buy stuff you don’t even need!
