I came across a deal where my friend is selling an i5 7400 processor along with a mid-range motherboard for just $40. I'm currently using an old i3 4th gen laptop, so I'm thinking this might be a good upgrade. Do you think it's worth it, or should I skip it?

If you're moving from an old laptop to this setup, it's a decent choice for the price. Just make sure it includes RAM—though even if it doesn't, DDR4 sticks are pretty affordable these days.

It's an older setup, but at $40, it could work well for basic tasks. If it meets your needs, I’d say go for it!

Thanks, I think it should be fine for what I need!

Definitely a solid deal! Does the motherboard support DDR4?

Yes, it does! I plan to add 2x8GB Kingston Fury sticks since they're pretty cheap right now.
