Should I Buy RAM and SSD Now or Wait for My Christmas Build?

I'm planning to build my first PC during Christmas week, as I'll have some time off work and want to enjoy the whole process. I've been tracking part prices and initially thought it'd be wise to buy everything at once to take advantage of the 30-day return period and reduce the risk of receiving any faulty parts. However, RAM prices have been rising lately, and I'm facing a dilemma. Should I go ahead and purchase the RAM and SSD now, or wait until I build it? I'm looking for advice from both new and experienced builders to help me gain some perspective on this.

Honestly, just go with what makes you happy! If building your PC at Christmas sounds like a great time for you, then do it! I doubt RAM prices will change much in the next month, so it might be worth it to just enjoy the process now rather than stressing about the prices.

It really depends on your comfort level. Two months isn’t a long time, but things can get unpredictable. I remember a flood in Taiwan caused crazy price hikes for two years! Just don’t be like my buddy who spent $3000 on parts and never built it – they lost a lot of value sitting around. It’s a gamble either way, so weigh your options!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely think it through before making a final decision.

It’s a common concern! Most of us aren’t confident prices will improve anytime soon. I’ve seen a lot of discussions about this, and it seems like waiting could be risky. Here are some threads discussing similar questions: (1) [link], (2) [link], (3) [link].

I can relate! The Corsair kit I wanted went up almost £40 in just a couple of days.
