Should I buy the 9070 XT or the 5070 Ti for better value?

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card after playing the Nioh 3 demo, and I'm currently using a 3060 12GB at 1440p. I also need to upgrade my power supply and plan to buy a new monitor since I'm still on an old TN panel. My dilemma is I can get the 9070 XT in a bundle with a new power supply for $1318 AUD, but the 5070 Ti would cost me around $1800 when bought separately. While it seems like the AMD option offers better value, I'm worried about missing out on NVIDIA features like DLSS and improved frame generation. I frequently use DLSS for performance boosts and anti-aliasing, and I'm unsure if the AMD alternative is as effective. For those who have used higher-end GPUs, is frame generation truly beneficial? Is the extra cost for NVIDIA worth it considering my gaming preferences, especially since I dislike playing games at just 60 FPS?

When faced with a $500 price gap, it really makes sense to choose the 9070 XT. It offers similar performance without the Nvidia premium. I went the 9070 route myself and have been very satisfied. DLSS can sometimes be overrated, and FSR is quite capable for 1440p gaming.

Exactly! Besides, it’s more about how the card performs for your needs. The 9070 XT still runs a lot of games smoothly without relying heavily on upscaling.

And honestly, saving that cash opens up options for other gear you might need, like that new monitor.

I opted for the 9070 XT and eventually switched to the 5070 Ti, and I couldn't be happier. While the 9070's performance was decent, I experienced more system instability compared to my old 4070. I did change my PSU with the upgrade, which added to my costs, but it's been worth it overall.

What stability issues did you face? Were you getting crashes in games? I had some odd wi-fi problems after installing the 9070 XT but none with my 5070 Ti.

I had a similar experience. I got a 9070 XT and encountered constant driver failures in several games, which was really frustrating. Switched to a PNY 5070 Ti with no issues, and it was definitely worth the extra money.

If you're worried about power connections, the 9070 XT is easier to handle since it doesn't require the 12vhpwr connector, which can be a hassle. I actually prefer my less powerful 9070 XT build over my 5090 just because I don’t have that anxiety about the power setup.

Honestly, the 5070 Ti is not likely to have those meltdown issues. It's a much safer bet.

It's best to keep an eye on your power connections just in case. If you're concerned, investing in a quality power supply and monitoring tool can really help.

The 5070 Ti isn't worth the extra $500, especially considering other upgrades you might need. While DLSS is currently superior, I've found AMD is making strides with FSR, and they won't stop improving. So, if saving money is a priority, go for the 9070 XT.

Oh, I completely agree! Given the large price difference, having some savings for other upgrades is also a smart move.

The real question is, will NVIDIA keep their edge with DLSS? AMD is improving, but will it ever catch up? It's tough to predict.
