Hey all! I'm considering upgrading my PC and came across a deal at Micro Center for a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and ASUS X870E-E bundle priced at $729.99. I'm not in a hurry to buy but would love some opinions before I commit. Here's my current setup:
- GPU: RTX 5080 FE
- CPU: Intel i7-12700K (wanting to upgrade to Ryzen 7 9800X3D)
- AIO: NZXT Kraken Z73
- RAM: 32GB Corsair DDR4 3600 (I've also got new RAM on hand: 64GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5 6400 CL32)
- Storage: 1TB Samsung 980 Pro + 2TB 990 Pro
- Case: Lian Li O11 Mini V2 (with 9 Lian Li Uni SL fans)
- PSU: EVGA G+ Gold 850W
- Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming WiFi D4 (looking to switch to AM5)
So, I'm wondering if this is a good time to grab this bundle, or would it be wiser to wait until January to see if prices drop? I want to make sure I don't miss out on a good deal without jumping in too soon. Thanks for the help!

Do you really need all those extra features of that board? If not, it might be better to snag a cheaper motherboard separately. Focus on getting the most out of your CPU and GPU, and you might save some cash this way.
The 9800X3D costs around $475, making the motherboard $255 in this bundle. While the X870E is a solid motherboard, I’m not sure this is a groundbreaking deal. If I were you, I might wait a bit to see if prices drop further.

Honestly, I just want whatever motherboard will maximize my CPU, GPU, and RAM without worrying too much about specifics. My plan is to upgrade once every 4-5 years, so I'm hoping this setup lasts me!
