I'm trying to decide between getting 16GB of DDR5 memory or going for 32GB of DDR4. The DDR5 is a bit cheaper, but I'm uncertain if 16GB will be enough for my needs. Right now, I'm using 16GB of DDR4, which seems to work well. I'm also upgrading my CPU to either the R5 7600X or the R7 5600X. I know the 7600X is stronger, but the 5600X might be sufficient for me. I have an RX6600 GPU, but I plan to upgrade that in the future as well. If I go with DDR5, I'd get 2x8GB sticks and my motherboard has 4 slots, so I could add 16GB more later when prices drop.

It sounds like choosing the R5 7600X with 16GB DDR5 is the way to go, especially if that's the cheaper option. Just keep in mind that using 4 DIMMs with DDR5 can sometimes complicate things, so stick with 2 DIMMs for now and upgrade later if you need to.
4 DIMMs are generally fine. The performance hit is usually not noticeable for most users!

Why is it such a hassle with 4-channel DDR5? I’ve heard some conflicting info on that.
