I'm trying to decide whether to go for a 2x8GB DDR5 RAM set or a 2x16GB set due to recent price hikes. In the past, it seemed like 16GB DDR5 was the better option, but I'm wondering if that's still true. Is there something inherently wrong with opting for 2x8GB, even in light of the higher prices for 32GB DDR5? I'm building a system with a 9060xt and a 7600x.

I don’t think 16GB is sufficient anymore. With Windows 11 and apps like Discord and Spotify, I find that I use around 12GB before even launching a game.
Personally, I would go for 32GB right now. But if you're really on a budget, 16GB can hold you over for a bit.
If your budget is tight, starting with a 1x16GB stick might be a smart move. You can always add another stick later when you have the funds.
You might think you’re saving by getting 2x8GB, but you're likely to end up paying more in the long run if you have to buy a full kit later. Just get the 2x16GB now and avoid hassle.
Getting 16GB is okay, but be aware that when you eventually upgrade, replacing both sticks might be a must since AMD CPUs don’t handle four sticks as well.
