Should I Choose a 2TB SSD or a 4TB HDD for Gaming Storage?

I'm in a bit of a bind with my current PC storage situation. Right now, I have a 1TB 2.5'' HDD and a Crucial MX500 1TB SSD, and they're both nearly full. I installed all my games on the MX500, which has left me with just 30GB free space after adding a few new games. Therefore, I'm looking to replace my 1TB HDD for something with more storage. My choices are: a 5400 RPM Seagate Barracuda 4TB HDD for $100, which would be great for storing videos, or a PNY CS900 2TB SSD for $120, which would be faster for gaming despite having less space. My motherboard has only 2 SATA ports, so I have to replace the 1TB HDD. What would be the best option?

I would definitely go for the 2TB SSD! It's a game changer for speed, and you won't have to deal with long loading times. If your old HDD is just sitting there, you can use it for other files later. Plus, most games are better optimized for SSD storage now, so you won't regret it for gaming in the long run.

I think you should invest in the SSD and maybe get an external SATA adapter for your old HDD if you have lots of videos. This way, you can keep your gaming fast and have a big storage solution for files you don't access as often.

Honestly, if you’re keeping a ton of media files, the 4TB HDD would be best for bulk storage. However, if gaming is your priority, the 2TB SSD is a must. Just keep in mind that SSDs have a longer lifespan compared to HDDs. If you can manage your media on the old HDD, go for the SSD!

Get the SSD for sure! For games, it’s unbeatable. Some games might literally crash on an HDD. But if you've got a lot of videos or stuff you want to keep, the HDD would work too. Just remember, you might be able to store some stuff on both.
