Should I Choose a 5070 or 5080 for Editing and Gaming?

I'm trying to decide between the 5070 and the 5080 for my editing work in After Effects and Premiere, as well as for gaming on a 34-inch monitor at 1440p and 240 Hz down the road. Currently, I'm using a 3070. I'm leaning towards the 5080 for the long run, but the price difference is quite steep – $620 for the 5070 and $1350 for the 5080, which is pretty hefty in my country.

I own a 5070 and I think it does okay for 1440p gaming, but if you can swing the price, go for the 5080. It's a solid investment for the future.

Honestly, if you're gaming at 3440x1440 but only at 100Hz, the 5070 could save you a lot of money while still providing decent performance. Consider pocketing the difference for future upgrades.

You should really consider how you play. If you're into competitive gaming, you might turn down settings for higher FPS, which the 5070 can handle. But if you want to max out settings on new titles, the 5070 Ti would be a smart choice.

Totally agree! If you’re focused on max settings and longevity, the 5070 Ti is probably the way to go.

If you're looking for a more budget-friendly option, consider the 5070 Ti. It's barely slower than the 5080 and should save you some cash.

That's a great point! The 5070 Ti is priced around $900-$950, which makes it a more appealing choice. I just wish the Founders Edition looked as nice as the 5080!

Just remember, while the 5070 Ti offers good value, the performance in ray tracing and other demanding tasks could be a significant factor. If you can stretch your budget, the 5080 might be the better long-term investment.

After considering everything, I've decided to go with the 5080! I'll be picking it up tomorrow. Thanks for all the feedback, everyone!
