Should I choose a 9070XT or a 5070TI for video editing and gaming?

I'm looking to upgrade from my reliable 1080TI. It's been great, but it can't keep up with some of the newer games anymore. Right now, I have options: a 9070XT for €670 or a 5070TI for €900. I know NVIDIA cards are generally better for productivity tasks like video editing, which is my main job and part of my studies, but my 1080TI has served me well in this area. I'm curious if the 9070XT would perform worse than my 1080TI, and since it's the cheaper option, I'm hoping it could still suffice. I mainly use Premiere Pro, After Effects, Blender, and Unity for my work.

The 9070XT will definitely beat the 1080TI in almost every aspect, it's a huge upgrade! But do you need features like NVIDIA's NVENC or CUDA for your projects? If you plan to make money off video editing eventually, investing in a 5070TI now could be worth it, thanks to its better performance and encoding options. If not, the 9070XT is still a great choice, giving you over 200% performance increase for gaming compared to the 1080TI.

I’m not currently making much money from it. I’m trying to get into graphic design and videography, so I need decent hardware for my projects, but I can’t afford too much right now.

You really need to check benchmarks for your specific software! Depending on what you use, the 9070XT can outperform the 1080TI, especially if that software supports hardware acceleration. Just be aware that some programs are better with NVIDIA, so if they don’t support AMD, you might end up relying on your CPU, which could slow you down a lot.
