Should I Choose a Mac Studio M3 Ultra or a High-End PC for Creative Work?

I'm trying to figure out whether a Mac Studio M3 Ultra (the $4k version, featuring 96GB RAM, a 28-core CPU, a 60-core GPU, and a 1TB SSD) would be a better choice for our family than a high-end desktop PC for various creative tasks. My husband is into PC and mobile game development using Android Studio, and my oldest wants to learn 2D and 3D animation and game dev with Unity. My youngest is interested in drawing, animation, and fashion design. I'm also keen on getting into music composition and recording, particularly with a Roland Jupiter-X synthesizer. We prefer software with one-time purchases or free options due to our family's financial goals and the risk of switching interests. We're considering whether to go for a dedicated drawing tablet or a newer iPad with Apple Pencil for the kids. Can anyone help with recommendations on hardware and software for: 1. Mac Studio M3 Ultra vs high-end desktop PC, 2. Drawing tablet vs iPad, and 3. Software for 2D/3D animation, game development, music composition with the synthesizer, and fashion design?

For your needs, the Mac Studio M3 Ultra can be a fantastic choice. It offers incredible performance and seamless integration with software like Logic Pro for music composition and Final Cut for video editing. Plus, it's especially good with applications used in animation and design. If price isn’t a major issue for you, it seems like a solid investment! Just make sure to explore software that can grow with your kids' learning curves!

That's a great point! I think the M3 Ultra will definitely help with performance in creative tasks. A good software option for 2D and 3D animation is Blender, which is free and has a ton of resources for beginners. Also, Unity is great for game development, and it's compatible with both platforms, so you might be covered either way.
