Should I Choose a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro for App Development?

I'm diving into app development after enjoying creating a web app for work, which involved coding in Python and Next.js. My main setup is a powerful desktop with an i7, 32GB RAM, and a 4080 GPU, so I plan to do most of my coding there. However, if I want to publish on iOS, I'll need a Mac. I'm considering starting with a MacBook Air 13-inch M4 with 512GB and 24GB RAM to save money. I've also looked at the MacBook Pro M4 Pro, which is a bit pricier at about $600 more. Since this is just a hobby and I still have a lot to learn, I'm not sure if I should spend more on a higher-end model. Any advice on whether an Air would suffice, or if I should just go for the Pro? By the way, I have an old 2012 MacBook Pro, but it's probably too outdated for what I need.

I think the M4 Air is totally sufficient for your needs! It's light, portable, and powerful enough for most app development tasks. If you end up doing a lot of coding on it, you might not regret your choice.

But what if I really get into coding? Wouldn't I need something more powerful then?
