Hey folks! I'm planning to upgrade my GPU to a 5080. Currently, I'm using a 3080 with an XPG Core Reactor 850W PSU. My CPU, the 7800X3D, doesn't use much power, but I'm considering a 1200W PSU for future-proofing. I'm curious if there are significant differences between the ASUS ROG Strix 1200W Platinum and the ASUS ROG Loki SFX-L 1200W Titanium models. Also, can both PSUs handle my 5080? I've heard some issues related to cable burning with the 5090 model, so I'm a bit concerned. Any insights would be great! Thanks! 🙂

Why not consider a Seasonic TX 1300? It has excellent noise levels and is well-regarded in the 1300W category. If you want even more power, the TX 1600 is also a good option!

Unfortunately, they don't ship to my location. Otherwise, I would've loved to check it out!

Your current 850W PSU is more than adequate! Don’t overspend on a PSU for a GPU you haven't bought yet. Instead, invest in upgrades that boost your performance now, like a great CPU!

True! I’m mostly gaming at 1440p. With the price tag around $600 for the 1200W, it doesn't seem worth it unless I get a decent performance boost!

The main difference between the two is size. The Strix is ATX, and the Loki is SFX, which is smaller and intended for compact cases. Make sure your case can accommodate it!

Got it! Would both fit my 5080? I've heard a lot about needing specific pins for power, and I'm a bit lost there.
