I'm looking to upgrade from my Kingston A400 240GB SSD paired with two 1TB HDDs. I've been considering either the Kingston NV3 or the Western Digital Black SN770, which costs about $15 more. I've heard mixed reviews about Kingston drives, specifically the NV2, but I don't really know anything about the NV3. Should I spend the extra money on the SN770, or is the NV3 a decent option?

Just a heads up: the NV3 uses QLC, which tends to have a shorter lifespan and performance issues down the road. The SN770 is a really solid choice. If you’re looking for cheaper alternatives, consider the Kioxia Exceria Plus G3 or TeamGroup MP44L.
Honestly, the WD Black SN770 is generally considered the superior drive. For just $15 more, you're getting a better TLC technology which has much better durability compared to QLC. I would strongly recommend going with the SN770.
I got the Kingston NV3 back in February and it's been great! It's commonly used in prebuilt systems here and receives solid ratings on sites like PCPartPicker, so you can usually trust it's a reliable choice.
I actually couldn't find out if the NV3 has any caching, which is pretty important for performance. The SN770 is a standard TLC cached SSD, but if the NV3 doesn't have caching, I would definitely steer clear of it. I found out that the NV3 is DRAM-less QLC, so it's probably not worth it.
A lot of people say to avoid Kingston unless you're looking for budget options. Their cheaper models aren't well-regarded. However, I’ve had a great experience with my Kingston KC3000 and Fury Renegade SSDs, so it really depends on which model you go for.
