Hey everyone! I'm finally making the leap from Windows to Linux and need some advice. I've got two older laptops that I'm considering: the Acer Aspire 5 and the Dell G15. I plan to use one as my daily driver and also for some light gaming. I've noticed a lot of debate about how well Linux works with Ryzen processors since both have them. Do you think Linux will run smoothly on either of these laptops? And is one of them better than the other for this purpose, or does it depend on the Linux distribution I choose? Thanks a lot!

Both laptops should handle Linux just fine! There aren’t any major issues with Ryzen CPUs. The only potential hiccup might be with Nvidia graphics cards, since they can be tricky sometimes. If you're looking for distros, MX Linux is solid for older machines because it's lightweight and efficient. Other good options are Linux Mint, KDE Neon, or Fedora. You can try a few out and stick with what suits you best for gaming, just remember you might need to use Wine or Steam/Lutris for some games.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely check those out.
