I'm building a PC using a Ryzen 5 5600 and I'm torn between two RAM options: should I go for the 16GB of 3200MHz RAM for $70, or the 32GB of 2666MHz RAM for $60? My primary use will be gaming, but I'll also rely on it for work occasionally. Any advice would be appreciated!

While 32GB seems like a lot, it might actually be the safer long-term bet for your build. These days, a lot of games and applications benefit from more RAM, especially in heavier multitasking scenarios. So, I'd lean towards that option when possible.
It depends on what you're doing! For gaming and light tasks, less RAM with faster speeds is better. But if you're handling larger datasets or heavier applications, more RAM will be beneficial, even if it's a bit slower. Just plan based on what tasks you prioritize.
My approach would be a bit different: if your motherboard supports 128GB of RAM over four slots, consider starting with 32GB sticks at the highest speed available. Eventually, you might want to max out your RAM, especially with how demanding Windows 11 can be. I didn’t have a great experience running games with just 16GB, as the OS itself takes up a lot. So, I’d recommend starting with 32GB if your budget allows it.
I recommend sticking with the 16GB of 3200MHz RAM. Ryzen CPUs really benefit from faster RAM speeds, and 16GB is usually enough for gaming. Just keep an eye on your RAM usage; if you start multitasking heavily—like gaming while having a ton of Chrome tabs open—you may hit a limit. I've been fine just using 16GB for a while now, and I've even found decent deals on used RAM if that's something you're considering too!
Thank you. And yes, I'm looking at used RAM.

I'm sort of on a budget so I don't plan to go over 32GB anyways.
