Should I Choose the 3060 12GB or the 4060 8GB for My Gaming PC?

I'm building my first gaming PC, and I'm stuck deciding between the Nvidia 3060 12GB and the 4060 8GB. A guy at MicroCenter mentioned that the 3060 is better for 1440p gaming, while the 4060 might provide a higher frame rate for 1080p. I intend to play games like War Thunder, Fortnite, COD Warzone, and some budget Steam games. Any thoughts?

If you're aiming for 1440p, the 3060 with 12GB of VRAM could be a safer bet because the 4060 only has 8GB, which might limit you at that resolution. The 4060 is indeed slightly faster, maybe around 15-20% more FPS, but be cautious about running out of VRAM at 1440p. If you can, check out the 6700XT for better performance overall, though I get that you want to stick with Nvidia for your build.

To be honest, the 4060 does offer a bit more speed, like 15-20% extra performance, especially at 1080p. But remember, if you plan on playing at higher resolutions, the 3060's extra memory is definitely going to help.

I get that performance is key, but do you really want to risk hitting a memory wall at 1440p? That could ruin your gaming experience.
