I'm in the market for a new GPU and can't decide between one with 8GB of VRAM or one with 12GB. Right now, the prices are quite similar, so I'm wondering which option would be more beneficial for my gaming needs. Additionally, I would like suggestions for other GPUs in a similar price range. Also, I need to get a new PSU to support the new GPU.
Here are my current specs for reference:
- CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F @ 2.90GHz (6 Cores, 12 Threads)
- Current GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING X (8GB GDDR5)
- Motherboard: ASUS PRIME H510M-K
- RAM: 16GB DDR4/3200MHz
- Storage: 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD
- Current PSU: InWin A45 450W

For a smooth experience, especially with more demanding games, I'd steer clear of any GPU with just 8GB of VRAM by 2025. If you're gaming seriously, you're going to want more VRAM! The 9060XT is just a little more expensive but worth it for better performance across the board.
The 5060 does have a faster core, but 8GB of VRAM is starting to show its age, especially with modern AAA titles. Going for the RX 9060XT 16GB is a smarter investment. Also, keep in mind that the 8GB cards tend to struggle with PCI-E gen 3 since they communicate more with system RAM when VRAM is full.
If you're leaning towards gaming, I highly recommend the RX 9060XT with 16GB of VRAM for around $350. The 5060 may struggle with PCIe 3.0 since your motherboard is older. Plus, the 3060 is getting a bit outdated after five years, so you might benefit from the extra memory of the 9060XT.

Thanks for the tips! I’m definitely leaning towards the 9060XT now.
