I'm considering upgrading my CPU and am torn between the 7800X3D for $290 and the 7600X for $145. Right now, I have a 5600 CPU paired with a 6700 XT GPU and 16GB of RAM. When I stream, I notice frame drops below my monitor's refresh rate, which I suspect is partly due to the RAM. I primarily play Valorant on a 1440p monitor and don't typically play AAA games. Is the price difference between these two CPUs worth it for my setup?

The 7800X3D is great for high FPS and multitasking in games, but if you're just playing Valorant, it's like using a tank to squash a mosquito – totally overkill! I think your frame drops come from your RAM. Save that $145, grab the 7600X, and consider upgrading to 32GB RAM instead. You'll hit Radiant rank in no time, and save some cash!
Yeah, I was thinking of saving some cash for RAM upgrades and the 7600X seems more than enough for what I need.
If you're aiming for the best FPS, I'd highly recommend going for the 7800X3D over the 7600X. It's a solid investment for gaming and multitasking!
If work is a priority too, you might want to consider Intel. But if you're sticking with AMD and don’t want to change motherboards, the 7800X3D is the way to go.
Honestly, $290 for a 7800X3D is a great deal! You'd be getting a powerhouse CPU for that price.
I used to stream a lot, and in my experience, frame drops while streaming and gaming at the same time usually come from CPU limitations. If you're using x264 for encoding, it really stresses the CPU. The 7800X3D with 8 cores and 16 threads is built to handle multitasking much better. Your RAM seems fine, though!

Agreed, performance in Valorant can be hit or miss regardless of your build!
