Should I Choose the 7800X3D or 9700X for My Upgrade?

I'm currently using a 3060Ti and a 5600X at 1440p on a 165Hz monitor. I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU first since I need stable performance for the finals, which are CPU-bound. Right now, I'm hitting around 130 FPS, but it can drop into the 90s during intense gameplay. Would the 7800X3D be overkill for this setup? I plan to get a 9070XT down the line as well.

I’d definitely recommend the 7800X3D. It usually handles 1% low dips way better, which means smoother gameplay overall. That’s a huge plus!

The 7800X3D will give you the highest frame rates for sure. At 1440p, you'll notice that your GPU will be the limiting factor. However, with the 7800X3D, you’ll enjoy better frame pacing with fewer drops. The 9700X is solid too, but it really depends on whether you want top-notch performance or a slightly lesser option that still works well.
