Should I choose the 9600X CPU or the 9800X3D for my gaming setup with a 5070 Ti?

I'm building a gaming rig and need some advice on which CPU to choose between the 9600X and the 9800X3D, especially since I've already got a 5070 Ti. The price difference between the two is around $419, which is a significant amount. I could either go for the 9800X3D and keep my current IPS 1440p 165Hz monitor or save that money by choosing the 9600X and invest in an OLED display instead. My gaming is mainly focused on AAA titles and RPGs, with occasional competitive play, and I'm planning to stick with 1440p. Is the 9800X3D worth the extra money for purely gaming on a 5070 Ti at 1440p, or would the combination of the 9600X plus an OLED provide a better overall gaming experience? I'd appreciate any insights from others who have faced similar choices or have experience with either of these CPUs in high-end gaming setups. Thanks!

For your gaming needs at 1440p, I'd recommend the 9600X paired with an OLED. The improved immersion and visuals from the OLED will enhance your gaming experience more than the slight performance boost you'll get from the 9800X3D.

Absolutely! OLED screens have incredible response times and contrast that just can’t be matched by traditional monitors.

The 9600X is more than capable for gaming at both 1440p and 4K. Go for the OLED if you can only choose one right now. However, if you can save up and grab the 9800X3D later, that could be a wise investment too.

I have the 9800X3D and a G9 OLED monitor. I'd suggest getting the 9800X3D first. Monitors often go on sale and are easier to swap out compared to CPUs, so it's smart to secure the higher performance now.

From my experience gaming with a 9600X and a 5070 Ti, it delivers excellent performance. I just got a 27-inch 1440p OLED, and the graphics look amazing! You’d likely enjoy the savings and benefits of an OLED more immediately than waiting for the high-end CPU.

Yeah, and keep in mind when optimizing for performance, the GPU is often more crucial than the CPU in 1440p or 4K gaming.

I'd say the 9800X3D is better for longevity if you're gaming. While the CPU can handle most games well, you'll notice better performance in CPU-intensive titles. But don’t underestimate the 9600X either; it's solid and works great too!
