I'm building a new gaming system to take full advantage of my 600 Hz monitor, primarily for Counter-Strike 2. I've decided on G-SKILL CL26 RAM and plan to overclock it, aiming for at least 600 fps in the game. My dilemma lies in choosing between two CPUs: the 9800X3D priced at $510, and the 9850X3D priced at $600. The performance jump of +70 fps with the 9850X3D is appealing, but I'm concerned about its power consumption and heat levels, especially since my setup will include an ROG RYUO IV SLC 360 AIO cooler. I recently saw that the 9850X3D can hit a maximum of 75 degrees Celsius with this cooler. Is that temperature risky or acceptable? What do you all think I should do?

Honestly, the 9800X3D is likely more than enough for CS2. If you're not concerned about pushing the limits, you might consider saving the cash unless the extra FPS is crucial for your gameplay experience. But if you don’t mind the expense, go for the 9850X3D for sure!
75°C is well within safe limits for an AMD CPU, especially under heavy loads. You should have no worries there! If you want to push your performance even further, consider exploring undervolting techniques to bring those temps down further, but you're in no danger at 75°C. Definitely get the 9850X3D for those higher FPS.
And don't forget, the difference in RAM timings may not be as significant as you think! Stick with your CL26 as it's perfectly fine.
If hitting those high FPS is your priority, then splurging on the 9850X3D is worth it, despite the temps. Modern CPUs don't hit thermal throttling until they're in the 90°C range anyway. Just ensure your cooling system is set up right, and you're good to go!
Absolutely! My 9800X3D is great too, but if you want the absolute best performance for CS2, the 9850X3D is the way to go.
75 degrees Celsius is actually not a risky temperature for modern AMD CPUs. They're designed to handle those heat levels, with a thermal junction max around 90-95°C. If your processor stays around 70°C, that's considered pretty good! So, I’d say go for the 9850X3D. It's a beast for gaming performance, especially if you're trying to maintain those high FPS levels in CS2.
True, my 9950X runs around 82°C under stress, and it does just fine.

I guess it depends on how competitive you are; for casual gaming, the 9800X3D might be perfectly fine.
