I'm looking to upgrade my brother's old PC setup, which currently has an i7 6700 and a GTX 1060 6GB. He already has a decent DDR4 kit at 3200MHz CL16 that I want to use. I was initially planning to go with an AMD AM4 setup, but I've realized that the motherboards and the Ryzen 5600 are more expensive than I expected. The Ryzen 5500 doesn't seem to be a great option based on what I've read. On the other hand, I found an Intel i5 11400F for about 89 euros, while the 5600X is priced between 120-130 euros. I'm wondering which option would be better for my brother's needs, especially considering that the 40 euro difference could help me get a better motherboard. His PC will mainly be used for web browsing and gaming.

The Ryzen 5 5600 or 5600X is comparable to 12th gen Intel CPUs. It's a solid choice that has proven itself, especially when paired with a good B550 motherboard and GPU, which will set you up for decent performance even at 1440p.
The performance between the two is quite comparable, so I'd lean towards the 11400F. However, if your brother has specific games in mind that run better with the 5600X, that could sway your decision a bit.
I'm not really sure what games he prefers. He plays Fortnite sometimes, along with FIFA, Forza, and The Crew. So really, I’m looking for something that can handle a bit of everything.

I read that performance differences are only around 10-15%. I know 40 euros isn't a huge amount, but I’m on a tight budget.
