Should I Complete My PC Build Now or Wait for Better Prices?

Hey everyone! I've been slowly piecing together my PC build since 2019, starting with just the case. Due to the market craziness, I've held off on buying the essential parts. Recently, I picked up some stuff now that RAM prices are dropping, like a Crucial T700 2TB SSD, two Crucial BX500 2TB SSDs, 128GB Crucial Pro DDR5-5600 RAM, and an Asus Prime RTX 5070 Ti OC graphics card.

Here's what I'm still missing: I need a motherboard, CPU, PSU, and cooling. I'm considering an ASUS X670E or X870E motherboard so I can maximize my RAM and GPU capabilities. For the CPU, I want to avoid bottlenecks, so I'm eyeing a Ryzen 5 9500X or an R7 9800X3D if I can find a good price.

I'm thinking about a 1000W PSU, aiming for an 80+ Gold or Platinum rating, and I prefer going with a Noctua cooler for reliability, though I might consider a Corsair AIO.

My question is: should I go ahead and buy the rest of the parts now or hold off until Black Friday next year? I'm worried about potential chipset improvements or new CPU releases that could affect pricing and availability. Any thoughts?

If you're set on using 128GB of RAM, you really should invest in a solid motherboard. The X870E is great for high-end builds, and your current components won’t be outdated by waiting. Building now might also allow you to enjoy your new setup sooner!

I think holding off is a good call. Quality cooling solutions and PSUs are generally available year-round, so you can snag deals on those later without stress. Plus, your current hardware won't lose value anytime soon. Go enjoy your build when you're ready!

True, I just want to avoid dealing with any issues if I wait too long!

Make sure to keep an eye on RAM prices too; they tend to spike again before sales. You might get good deals in the post-holiday period, so be smart about tracking prices!

Definitely, I'll use some price tracking tools to help guide my decisions.

I still don’t get why you need 128GB of RAM. Are you planning to do something super intensive?

Yes, I’m actually studying network engineering and I plan to set up a local server for my projects, so the RAM will be super useful.

Honestly, I think it makes sense to hold off if you don't need the PC urgently. Prices on CPUs and motherboards should drop further, and you'll likely get better deals. Plus, new products are expected to hit the market soon, so waiting could give you more options later.

But what if prices rise again after the holidays? Isn't it safer to buy now?

Good point, but I feel like the mid-year sales often bring about decent reductions, too.
