I'm contemplating whether or not to invest in a second GPU. Currently, I have an RTX 5090 OC, and while it performs really well, I'm curious if adding another GPU might help relieve some of the workload or improve performance, especially since I usually game at native 2K resolution and don't typically use upscaling or frame generation, except for a few single-player titles. I'd love to hear from anyone with experience in this area about the potential latency issues and if a second GPU still offers any real benefits. Thanks!

Honestly, getting a second GPU isn’t really worth it these days. Most games don’t support multi-GPU setups anymore, and unless you’re running something very specific, that second card will likely just sit idle. If you're happy with your 5090's performance at 2K, I’d focus on cooling or upgrading other components instead.
SLI is pretty much dead. If you want better performance, it makes more sense to upgrade to a newer card or use frame generation/upscaling instead. Honestly, your 5090 is already overkill for most games at 2K!
Thanks for the clarification! I didn’t realize SLI was no longer an option.
Unless you're doing specific tasks like AI work or 3D rendering, stick with one GPU for gaming. A second GPU is likely overkill, especially if your 5090 isn’t even getting close to its limits. It's a powerful card, and you might benefit more from investing in better cooling or a higher refresh rate monitor instead.
Got it! My 5090 is plenty powerful, just was curious if I could push it further.
If you’ve got a solid setup, maybe consider upscaling before thinking about dual GPUs. You might find that optimizing what you have gets you the performance boost you’re looking for without the hassle of adding more hardware.
I appreciate the advice! I just wanted to explore all my options.

That makes sense! I thought maybe SLI still had some use, but it really seems like it's a thing of the past.
