I'm thinking about switching from Windows 11 to a Linux distribution, like Garuda or Zorin OS, but I have some concerns. Primarily, I'm worried about losing important files during the process or running into compatibility issues with my favorite apps. I mainly use Discord, play games with my girlfriend, and watch videos and music on YouTube, so I rely on applications like Steam, Discord, Helium browser, and OBS. Also, I'm considering dual booting, but I don't have a free USB drive to use for this setup.

Dual booting can be tricky! If you're really worried, try to back up any important files first. Most of the apps you mentioned like Discord and Steam should work fine on Linux, but it depends on the specific games you're playing. Can you share which games you're most worried about?
Switching to Linux is definitely worth it if you're interested in learning! I'd recommend setting up a new PC, if possible, and just installing Linux on it. Mint is a good start if you're looking for something user-friendly. Just keep in mind that Linux isn't a direct replacement for Windows; it's a different way to handle things, and not every Windows app will work flawlessly.

I play a lot of indie games and a few AAA titles. I'm mainly concerned about my favorites not running on Linux.
