Hey everyone! I'm looking to switch to Linux because I've realized that many of my games run on it. I'm in college and I need certain programs like ArcGIS Pro for my classes, which I know is only available on Windows. I was originally leaning towards dual booting to make the transition smoother. However, I read that I could also run Windows in a virtual machine with GPU passthrough. The catch is, my laptop is muxless, so I'm worried about how to manage that without messing up my Linux setup. What do you think would be the best approach?

I’d say go with dual booting. Using a VM might cause some headaches, especially if you're in class and need to troubleshoot something on the fly. You really want to focus on your studies, not the tech.
You might want to check out Lutris, WINE, or Proton for running your apps on Linux. Many people find they don’t even need Windows. If that doesn’t work, I’d still suggest dual booting. You don’t want to deal with issues during class, right? Dual booting lets you focus on your work without the extra troubleshooting.

That’s exactly my setup! I use Windows for classwork and stick with Linux for everything else. It keeps things simple.
