Should I Get a CPU with Integrated Graphics for Basic Tasks?

I'm considering buying a CPU that has an integrated graphics card so I can save some money on a dedicated GPU for now. My main uses will be for Photoshop painting, light gaming, and using Blender—nothing too intensive since I'm just starting out. Is this a smart choice? What are some good CPUs with integrated graphics?

All AMD 7xxx and 9xxx non-F CPUs come with decent integrated graphics. They can handle some light gaming too, which might suit your needs well.

Integrated graphics can be useful for various tasks and can even support media servers, but if you're a light gamer, keep in mind that performance will be limited. A used GPU could be a better option; sometimes, you can find decent older ones for around $25.

Just keep in mind that CPUs with powerful integrated graphics, like the G series, tend to sacrifice some CPU power, usually by reducing the L3 cache. So when you finally get a dedicated GPU, your CPU might not perform as well as you hoped.

If you're working with Blender, consider later model Ryzen CPUs with integrated graphics. However, if you're doing anything with H.265 4:2:2 editing, Intel's integrated GPU might be a better fit for you.

For basic tasks, integrated graphics can work but won't be great for gaming. Even a low-end GPU from a few years ago will outperform integrated graphics. If you want an integrated GPU, G series Ryzen CPUs might be your best bet.
