I'm wondering which option would be better for my system: having a single 2TB SSD for Windows, updates, backups, and games, or using two separate 1TB SSDs—one for Windows and apps, and the other for games? It seems to me that having two different drives might reduce the load on each, since they wouldn't be reading a bunch of stuff at once. What do you all think?

If you choose a good quality PCIe NVMe SSD, it should handle running Windows and games simultaneously without issues. Just think about how many m.2 slots your motherboard has. With two drives, you might cut down on upgrade options later, while one 2TB drive leaves more room for future upgrades. You could also partition your single 2TB SSD during Windows setup to manage your data better.
It's really up to personal preference. There's no significant performance benefit to having separate drives unless you want to manage your files and games differently. Just go with what feels right for you!
You make a solid point! My board has 4 NVMe slots, and I initially thought 1TB would be enough. Now I'm regretting that since I missed my return window and ended up getting another 1TB SSD just for games. So I’ll have one for Windows and the other for everything else!
