I'm building my first gaming PC and I've got an Intel i5-12600KF processor and an RTX 4070 GPU. I found the CPU for about $120 on Amazon, which seems like a good deal. I've checked a bottleneck calculator and it says I have a minimal 0.3% bottleneck, but I want to make sure it's a solid setup. Should I aim for 1440p or stick with 1080p with this hardware? I've heard mixed opinions on whether the 4070 is better for 1080p or can also handle 1440p.

1440p sounds good with your setup! If you ever feel it's not handling games well down the line, you can always switch to a 1080p monitor later. It's nice to future-proof a bit!
Your combo should be great for 1440p! I'm running a similar setup and I've had no issues with performance, even in demanding games. Just keep an eye on graphics settings and enjoy the experience!
Your setup should handle 1440p pretty well! The i5-12600KF is a decent CPU, and while you might see slightly lower FPS compared to higher-end CPUs like the 13600K or 13700K, it should still perform admirably. I previously used a similar setup for 1440p gaming and it worked out great!
I agree, go for 1440p! Bottleneck calculators are often misleading. If you're focused on newer titles, the GPU will usually be the main limiting factor, and at 1440p, your CPU will have less impact on overall performance anyway.
Keep in mind that 1440p can be more demanding on your system. If you want super sharp visuals, then 1440p is the way to go. But you might need to lower some quality settings to maintain a good framerate. If performance is your main focus, though, 1080p could be better.
Yeah, important to check what games you play most. Competitive games might be better at 1080p!
Definitely go for 1440p! The 4070 is plenty capable, and if you're not trying to max out settings at 144fps in AAA games, you should be fine. I've been using a 3060 Ti at 1440p and it was a solid experience before I upgraded.
Thanks for the heads up! I definitely want a balance between good visuals and smooth gameplay.
