Should I go for a GTX 3080 or a RTX 5060 for gaming?

I'm in the market for a new graphics card and I'm torn between the GTX 3080 and the RTX 5060. The performance difference is intriguing, as I've heard the 3080 is significantly faster than the 5060. In my country, the used price for the 3080 is about 300 euros, while a new 5060 would cost me 350 euros. My main concern is that if I choose the 3080, I might need to upgrade my power supply and I'm worried my current CPU, an Intel Core i5-8500, might not keep up with it. For context, I mainly play games like Rust on lower settings, along with R6 and League of Legends. I'm looking for some advice on which GPU to pick, considering my setup: I have 32GB RAM, a GTX 1060 3GB, and a 500W PSU.

The 3080 has about 30% better performance and offers more VRAM, which could be crucial for future games. However, running it on a 500W PSU sounds risky, especially since it has a 320W TDP. If you do go for the 3080, you'll need an 850W PSU at the very least.

Yeah, if I decide on the 3080, I'll definitely swap for an 850W PSU. I’m thinking of upgrading my CPU and motherboard within the next three months, too!

Honestly, your CPU might struggle with either card, so if you want a simpler option for now, I'd suggest going with the 5060. You can think about upgrading the rest later on. Also, have you considered the 9060 XT? It's usually around the same price and can deliver better performance than the 5060.
