I'm transitioning to Linux since Windows 10 is reaching its end-of-life, and I'm considering using Bazzite since I mainly game on my PC. My motherboard can't handle an upgrade to Windows 11. Is it wise to retain a Windows 10 partition on my system while I switch to Linux?

I strongly recommend keeping Windows, at least for a while. Disk space is quite affordable these days, so if you can, add another drive just for Windows. You never know when you might need it again. Plus, you'll find it easier to switch between systems if both are separate!
The real question is, do you really need Windows? If you don’t have anything crucial left on it, you might consider creating a backup of the partition on a USB or external drive. That way, you can completely switch to Linux and still access your files if needed.
If you’re not well-versed in tech and don’t have Windows recovery media, I’d say keep that Windows partition. Just ensure your important game saves are cloud-backed or transferable. You won’t know how smoothly everything runs on Linux until you try!
It's usually a good idea to keep Windows around, but if you do, make sure to have it on a separate disk if possible. Windows can sometimes overwrite boot partitions needed by GRUB, which can make your Linux installation unbootable. Many new Linux users have run into this issue and ended up losing their data, so it's best to be cautious about dual-booting!
You definitely want to keep a Windows disk, especially since you’re heavily into gaming. Many games don't play nice with Linux due to anti-cheat systems. Installing Linux on a separate disk is a smart move and you’ll select the system at boot using the designated key for your motherboard.
