I'm looking to upgrade my setup for video editing in Premiere Pro and 3D modeling in Blender. Currently, I have a Ryzen 5 3600X CPU, a GTX 1660 GPU, and a B450M motherboard. I'm considering two options: get the Ryzen 7 5800XT for about $125 or the Ryzen 9 5900XT for $282. There's also the option of upgrading to a B650 motherboard, an R5 9600X CPU, and DDR5 RAM for around $400. I'm also planning to switch my GPU to an RTX 4060 or the upcoming RTX 5060. I worry that the 5800XT might bottleneck the RTX 4060, and I'm curious if my B450M motherboard can handle the 5900XT.

Going with the 5800XT alongside the RTX 4060 or 5060 could work fine. However, if you're focusing on gaming, the 5900XT might not give you enough value for the extra cost. If you're on a budget, the R5 9600X and 5060 could be a solid mix too!

The bottleneck calculator shows the 5800XT might underperform with the 4060 by about 5.7%. In terms of Blender or video editing, that slight bottleneck probably won't be a big deal, but it might nag at you. If money's tight, the 5800XT+RTX 4060 combo is tempting, but your gut's leaning towards the 5900XT. If you're thinking long-term, upgrading to AM5 while betting on the 5900XT sounds like a safe choice too!
