Should I Remove My CPU and CPU Fan When Switching Motherboards to a New Case?

I'm planning to switch to a new case since I've been using the same one from my prebuilt PC for ages, but I've never done a case swap. I've replaced every other component but the case itself. Is it really necessary to remove the CPU and CPU fan when I swap out the motherboard, or can I leave them in place and just be extra careful while transferring everything?

You don't need to remove the CPU and cooler if you can detach the motherboard without any hassle. Just be gentle while you're doing it!

Nah, you can just leave them as they are unless you think the thermal paste needs changing. Most people install the CPU and cooler first before putting the motherboard in the case. It cuts down on unnecessary work.

I totally get that! I did the same thing last time—installed everything after attaching the motherboard. It was more of a challenge, but I learned a lot! I think the thermal paste should be fine since it hasn’t been that long.
