Should I Replace My CPU Cooler for Better Summer Temps?

Hey everyone! I'm rocking a 9900x with a Dark Rock Pro 5 and it's starting to heat up with the summer weather here in the UK. My idle temperature is around 50°C, and when I stress test, I'm hitting the late 80s°C. I'm thinking about swapping the Dark Rock Pro 5 for a 360 or 420 Silent Loop 3. Do you think this would significantly improve my cooling? Has anyone made a similar upgrade? Thanks!

It sounds like you might have a cooler mounting issue or something else going on. With a Dark Rock Pro 5, your temps shouldn’t be that high unless it's really hot where you are or there’s a problem with your setup. Double-check the mounting and thermal paste; that might help!

Honestly, your temps are still pretty good for a high-performance setup. If you're under that 60°C mark while idle, it's normal for Ryzen CPUs. So unless you’re dealing with extreme heat, you might not need to rush into a cooler upgrade just yet.

I swapped to a Lian Li Hydroshift 360 on my 9950X3D and my normal temps in high heat were around 50°C, peaking at 75°C during heavy use. Since the upgrade, I'm at around 45°C maxing at 71°C. Just sharing my experience; yours might improve too!

Thanks for sharing! That gives me hope. I’ve been seeing 85-87°C during stress tests, so it’s nice to know there’s potential for lower temps.
