Should I Replace My GPU or Sell My Gaming PC?

I'm new to PC gaming and could use some honest advice regarding my setup. I bought my gaming PC about a year and a half ago for $2000, but after just one month of use, the graphics card stopped working. Here's a rundown of my specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU (now broken), 16 GB DDR4 RAM, and a 500 GB SSD. My questions are: 1) Is it better to buy a new GPU and keep the PC? 2) Should I sell the whole system as is and use the money to build a better PC? If I choose to sell, how much is my current setup worth considering the GPU issue? Any help is appreciated!

Honestly, it sounds like you paid way too much for that setup if the GPU crapped out that fast. If it were me, I'd just buy a new GPU—something like a used 3080 would pair well with your Ryzen 5 5600X. Your PC without the GPU is realistically worth around $500, and even with a GPU, it’s not hitting $1000. You might consider keeping it and upgrading, then think about a new build down the road if issues persist.

Given the situation, you should ideally keep the 5600X because it's a solid CPU. Look for a new GPU that fits your budget. If you let me know your power supply specs, I can help suggest a good graphics card. If you're considering a used RTX 3070 for $200, that sounds like a fantastic deal—just make sure it’s in good shape!

You really need to think about whether the GPU is your only problem. If that's confirmed, replacing it is probably your best bet. Prices on PC parts are shaky right now, so check that route. If it’s really just the GPU, then go ahead and get a good replacement instead of a whole new rig.

Yeah, about that $2000 price tag… that’s not realistic anymore. Without the GPU, you’re looking at around $300, max $600 with the GPU. So a total rebuild might not be in your cards just yet. Focus on getting a new graphics card to fit with your 5600X for a solid gaming experience.
