I've been working on my GPU because it's been overheating. I decided to change the thermal paste, but I found out that some of the thermal pads ripped during disassembly. I don't have any replacements on hand and don't want to leave my GPU disassembled for too long. Is it okay to put the ripped pads back on, or is it absolutely necessary to replace them before reassembling?

Those pads are pretty worn out, so it's best to replace them for optimal cooling performance. Definitely don’t just slap the ripped ones back on. It could lead to more overheating issues down the line.
You could temporarily use the ripped pads while you wait for new ones to arrive, but it’s not ideal. Just be mindful of the temps until you can swap them out.
