I currently have 2x8GB of DDR5 RAM and I'm looking to upgrade to 32GB total. Should I sell my existing RAM and buy a new set of 2x16GB sticks, or would it be better to just add another 2x8GB to make it 4x8GB? Here are my PC specs for context: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X, GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti, RAM: 16GB DDR5 6000MHz CL30, Motherboard: ASUS ROG B850-A, Storage: WD Black 850X 2TB NVMe, PSU: Corsair RM850x, Case: Corsair 4000D, CPU Cooler: 360 AIO.

I'd suggest sticking with 2 sticks. DDR5 works best with just 2 modules for stability and speed. It might be worth it to sell off your current RAM for a decent price and upgrade accordingly.
Going with 2x16GB is definitely a solid choice! AMD motherboards tend to not handle 4 sticks well, and you might not achieve optimal speeds if you go with 4x8GB. Just make sure selling your old ones isn't too much of a hassle.
Exactly! The speed can really matter more than just having extra capacity.

What speed and latency should I aim for with the 2x16GB?
