Should I sell my RTX 3060 for an Intel Arc B580?

I've got an RTX 3060 with 12GB of VRAM, and I'm curious if it's worth selling it to buy an Intel Arc B580, which I found in stock nearby. I'm considering pairing it with a 7800X3D processor, but I'm wondering if the Arc is actually better than my current 3060. What do you guys think?

I'd suggest holding onto your 3060 unless you're getting a killer deal on the B580. While it offers about a 20% performance boost, it’s not enough to justify the switch in my opinion. Nvidia cards generally have better long-term support too. Save up instead for a more substantial upgrade.

Honestly, unless you can get the B580 for super cheap and pocket some cash in the process, this trade doesn’t seem worth it. Sure, it’s a bit faster, but since you already have the 3060, I’d say stick with it.

That being said, I run an A380 in another setup and have had a good experience. If I were starting fresh, I might pick the B580 over the 3060, but since you own the 3060, it’s probably not worth it unless you can break even.

If you're pairing a 7800X3D with a GPU, I really think you should be looking at something more like a 5070 or 9070 at least. The B580 seems like a downgrade, especially with such a powerful CPU.

Got it! What's a good AMD CPU to pair with a more capable GPU? I want something that really complements it.

You generally want to upgrade if you can achieve at least a 30% increase in performance. Comparing specs, the B580 is about 20% faster, which isn’t a huge jump. I'd recommend waiting for a better opportunity if you're looking for a solid upgrade.

Exactly! My personal goal for upgrades is at least 50% better performance. Everyone has their own expectations though.
