I'm looking at two setups: a used Ryzen 5 5600X with a B450 Aorus Elite motherboard and 32GB of RAM, or a Gigabyte B760 with an Intel i5 12400F and 32GB of RAM for just 20 bucks more. Is it worth it to go with the i5 for that small price difference?

Definitely worth considering the i5 12400F! It's a solid option, but the 5600X is faster in gaming. Just keep in mind future upgrades.
That being said, I found a sweet deal with an R5 5500 setup nearby for $70! It includes a PSU and RAM, and it's running well. Just food for thought if you're keeping costs low!
Honestly, both CPUs are quite similar in performance, but the 5600X is easier on cooling. If you already have a decent cooler, go for the i5. Just remember, the 5600X doesn't support DDR5, but the i5 does.
I'd personally lean towards the 5600X. It has better clock speeds and more L3 cache, which is great for gaming. You could also sell the B450 motherboard and add that $20 to get a B550 for PCIe 4.0 support!
That's solid advice! Plus, if you upgrade later, the 5600X can go to a 5700X 3D.
