Should I Stick with Basic Web Development or Focus on React Native?

I've recently decided to take charge of my career as I'm in my last semester studying Computer Science and Information Systems. After some tough life events, including my car being stolen and failing a course, I've been out of the coding game for about six months. Now, I want to get back into programming and start building meaningful projects. I found a tech YouTuber offering paid mentorship that emphasizes building your own applications with guidance. This got me excited because I believe he can help me identify areas for improvement. However, I'm unsure whether I should go through the basic modules on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript again since I already know those, or if I should jump into learning React Native and brushing up on my Java Spring Boot skills to develop an app idea I've got. I want to make the most of my time, but I'm also feeling anxious about prioritizing my learning tasks, especially with my final semester looming over me. Any insights or advice would be appreciated!

It sounds like you're overthinking things a bit. You need to pick a project, any project, and just dive into it. The coding ideas will come once you start experimenting more. Whether you finish those basic modules or not, don’t let that hold you back. Just code! It’s all about practice, and you’ll gain insights as you go along. Plus, don't stress too much about being efficient right off the bat. Just start building something!

Totally agree! It’s easy to get caught up in perfecting your skills. Sometimes you just need to roll up your sleeves and get messy with coding, and the ideas will flow from there.

Exactly! Plus, learning by doing is often the best way. You’ll discover new things as you tackle real projects.

Honestly, focus on your college coursework first. Finish your degree before diving into paid mentorships or side projects. It's important to have a solid foundation, and you don’t want to compromise your studies. Once you graduate, you'll have more time and resources to explore mentorships and your app ideas.

Right? Degrees matter, and they’ll open more doors for you later. You can always pick up mentorships after graduation.

I think it’s a balance. If those basic modules feel too easy, skipping ahead to React Native could keep your motivation up. But don’t skip anything critical that might come in handy later. Just don’t let analysis paralysis stop you from moving forward!

Yes! Just keep it moving forward! Experiment with both if you can. Learning is continuous!
