Should I stick with CL36 RAM or upgrade to CL30?

I'm checking out a bundle at Micro Center that includes an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, an ASUS B650-A ROG Strix Gaming WiFi motherboard, and a G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 kit. I noticed both the G.Skill and potential Corsair upgrade have a CAS latency of CL36. If budget allows, do most people opt for the CL30 kit instead? Or is it really okay to go with the CL36 since the performance difference isn't huge?

While CL30 is the better choice theoretically, the difference in performance is minimal—like 1-2%—so CL36 isn't a bad option at all. If you’re getting a bundle, it's totally fine to go with CL36 and invest your budget elsewhere if needed.

Got it, I thought I was putting too much weight on that. Thanks for clarifying!

If you can pick your RAM, CL30 is generally recommended as it's only slightly more expensive than CL36. However, going with CL36 in a bundle is perfectly acceptable. In practical use, you probably wouldn't notice a difference in performance.
