Should I Stick with Linux Mint or Switch to Fedora KDE for Better Gaming?

I've been using Linux Mint on my laptop, and even though I've encountered a bunch of issues, I really like it. Now, I was thinking about installing Linux Mint on my gaming rig, but a friend suggested I should try Fedora KDE instead. He mentioned that Fedora uses a newer version of Mesa, which could significantly improve compatibility with my 9070xt and 9800x3d setup. Is Fedora KDE actually the best option for gaming, or are there other alternatives I should consider? What are the main differences between these options?

Don’t sleep on MX Linux either; it's a solid contender with excellent hardware support. Just keep in mind that it may not have the latest Mesa drivers needed for your RX 9000 series card. But if you're up for a bit of tweaking, you could add newer Mesa versions through a PPA. Still, Fedora seems to be getting a lot of praise for its gaming capabilities!

In the end, there’s no 'best' Linux distro; it really comes down to personal preference and specific requirements. Fedora KDE seems to align well with your hardware needs, but don’t hesitate to try out a few distributions in a VM first to see what feels right for you. Happy gaming!

I've been using Fedora KDE after starting with Mint due to too many gaming-related issues. Since switching, I haven't faced any major problems at all. Fedora's usually updated quicker with the latest drivers, which makes it a solid choice for gaming, especially with AMD hardware.

While Fedora is a great option, you might also want to check out the Bazzite variant if you're focused primarily on gaming. It’s designed to be user-friendly and ''install and go,'' reducing the chances of breaking things. It's still based on Fedora, so you get the advantages of newer software while benefiting from a more gaming-friendly setup.

Fedora KDE could really enhance your gaming experience with better hardware support. It's known for newer software, including kernels and drivers that often work well with AMD cards. If you’re familiar with Linux Mint, Fedora also has a Cinnamon version, which might be a smoother transition for you.

By the way, the KDE environment has great features for gaming, such as FreeSync and HDR support, which can really make your gaming visuals pop!
