Should I Stick with My 9600X or Upgrade to a 7800X3D?

Hey everyone! I just put my order in for parts for a new build but I'm second-guessing my CPU choice. I went with the 9600X, but I'm wondering if it's really worth it to upgrade to the 7800X3D, especially since there's about a €170 price difference. I'll mostly be gaming at 1080p with titles like Gears of War, Jedi games, Red Dead Redemption 2, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Counter-Strike 2, Battlefield 6, and The Witcher 4/Cyberpunk 2077. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think they have a 7800X3D, but the 9800X3D should be a close option.

Since you're gaming at 1080p and playing CS2 with a good GPU, the upgrade might be worth it for the performance boost. But honestly, I'd consider investing in a 1440p monitor for a more solid experience while keeping your current build.

I just learned that 1080p can actually be more CPU intensive than 1440p! Thanks for the tip; I'll definitely think about upgrading my monitor.

I've got a 9700X and it's been fantastic for similar games. I plan to upgrade to the last AM5 X3D in about 3 years to extend the life of my setup. There should be a sweet spot for buying at a lower price, just like what happened with the 5700X3D last year.

Sounds sensible, thanks!

I'm pairing my 9700X with a 5070TI and optimizing it with low latency, high-speed memory for better performance, especially in bandwidth-heavy games like Battlefield 6. How much did you boost your performance over stock?

While some games may limit you at 1080p due to CPU, I wouldn't stress about it right now unless you prefer the convenience of not swapping out your CPU later on.

Yeah, not having to swap my CPU in the future is definitely one of my considerations.
