Hey everyone! I recently built a new PC but ran into a shipping issue, which led me to buy some RAM from Walmart while I was waiting for an Amazon order. Now I have a set of Kingston Fury RGB RAM already installed and a set of Crucial Pro just sitting in a box ready to return. I want to make sure I'm making the right decision about which RAM to keep. I haven't encountered any major problems with my build so far, aside from some driver issues with the MSI x870 Tomahawk motherboard. Everything seems to be running smoothly after some basic tests.
Would I notice a significant performance difference if I switched the Kingston RAM for the Crucial RAM? I would lose $250 if I return the Kingston, plus I'd miss out on the RGB aesthetic. But if it's going to give me a solid boost in performance, I could manage that loss. What do you all think? Also, is it really a bad idea to use both RAM sets together? I initially wanted a 64GB setup but didn't want to splurge too much. Any advice is appreciated!

If the Crucial RAM matches the QVL for your motherboard's max supported speed, it might be worth switching. But keep in mind that mixing RAM brands can lead to issues because of timing mismatches. It’s best to stick to one brand to avoid complications. Also, running four sticks might mean lower speeds overall, so you might want to stick with just the Kingston. Sounds like it could be the safer choice!
If you're considering an SSD upgrade, you might want to look into a WD Black SN8100 Gen 5. It's around $220 directly from Sandisk, and they sometimes offer discounts if you leave it in your cart. Just a thought!
Thanks! But since that SSD is my OS drive, I’d prefer not to switch it out right now unless the performance gain is huge.

Yeah, I checked the QVL and it turns out the Crucial isn’t listed, but the Kingston is. Looks like keeping the Kingston is probably the way to go. Thanks for the tip!
