Should I Take the Support Engineer Role Despite My Coding Struggles?

I'm considering a Support Engineer position that involves incident management, Azure cloud technologies, and ITIL certification. I've spent about 1.5 years as an Associate Software Engineer, but I haven't been able to secure more development roles lately. This new position offers a better salary of 9.5 LPA, but I'm unsure if it will help my chances of transitioning back to a software engineer role in the future. I also admit that I'm not very skilled at coding, but I want to remain in the tech field. Is this a smart move?

Definitely consider taking the role! It seems like a solid move if you're not feeling confident in coding. Plus, ITIL knowledge can be really valuable in IT positions. Just think about how it will shape your career path moving forward.

It's great that you're open about your coding skills! Taking the Support Engineer position seems like a smart step, especially if the pay is better. Just keep in mind that it may be challenging to return to coding roles later. Still, it sounds like you're leaning toward a path that suits you better right now.

Honestly, if coding isn’t your strong suit, moving into a Support Engineer role could be a good choice. Just remember that transitioning back to software development might be tough later on, but with your current experience, it sounds like a solid way to stay in tech while improving your other skills, especially in incident management and cloud technology.
