Should I turn off my UPS during a long power outage after my PC is shut down?

I recently bought a 1000VA Energizer UPS for my PC since we often have power outages that usually last 2-4 hours. When there's a longer outage, like the weekly ones, after I shut down my PC and monitor, I'm wondering if I should turn off the UPS manually or leave it on. I know it's better to keep it on for short outages, but I'm worried that keeping it on during long ones might drain the battery completely, which could damage it. What's the best approach here?

If you're not going to use the UPS, go ahead and turn it off. It won't hurt anything. Just make sure to keep it charged when you can, especially for those unexpected outages!

I usually keep mine on all the time unless I'm going to be away for a while. But for outages, it's best to turn it off to prevent unnecessary battery drain. Better safe than sorry!

Thanks for the tip! I guess it makes sense to turn it off if I'm not using it. I just want to make sure the battery lasts.

Definitely turn it off during a long outage. Even when your PC is off, the UPS will still draw a little power for its own needs. Keeping it on could wear out the battery faster, so it's a good idea to shut it down if you're just waiting for the power to come back.
