Should I Update My BIOS to the Latest Version?

Hey everyone! I built my PC back in 2022 with an i7 12700k, a 3080, and 32 GB of DDR5 RAM. My motherboard is an ASUS TUF Z690 Plus Wi-Fi. I'm thinking about updating my BIOS since my current version (1601) seems pretty outdated. However, I've read some comments about people having issues with the latest BIOS versions for 12th gen CPUs. So, I'm wondering whether I should go for the latest update right away or opt for a mid-version update first? I've heard the old BIOS needs an Intel ME update, which the latest BIOS does as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've heard similar warnings, but I also believe that those are pretty rare cases. If you follow the instructions carefully and ensure a stable power source during the update, you should be fine. Don't let fear hold you back from getting the improvements!

Honestly, there's no reason to stick with an old BIOS. Just grab the latest version, put it on a flash drive, and go for it! Most folks experience no issues, and you'll likely benefit from the updates they include.

I think you're overthinking it. Generally, updating your BIOS is a good move since it can provide security patches and improve stability. I'd recommend going straight to the latest version. Just make sure to back up your current BIOS in case anything goes wrong!
